The Toyota Land Cruiser 78 Troopy is one of the most iconic overland vehicles ever built. Known around the world as the Troopy, Bushtaxi, or Ship of the Desert, it has carried travellers across deserts, savannahs, and remote landscapes for decades.
We design this interior system for Toyota Land Cruiser 78 Troopy pop-up roof conversions to support real overland travel while respecting the rugged simplicity that makes the LC78 so trusted worldwide.
Our goal is to create a practical and durable living space that works in the environments where Troopies are most commonly used — from Australia and Southern Africa to the Middle East and Europe.

With the pop-up roof raised, the interior comfortably accommodates two to four travellers, while still providing an emergency sleeping space for two inside the vehicle.
The layout integrates cooking and preparation space, flexible storage for gear, and compatibility with expedition systems such as water storage, electrical systems, heating, plumbing, and insulation.
At the same time, the design keeps the vehicle open and practical so travellers can enjoy the outdoor living space around the vehicle, while the interior remains organized and ready for the next stage of the journey.
The system is designed to withstand the vibration and conditions typical of long-distance travel on corrugated tracks.
We focus on simple, robust solutions that remain reliable after thousands of kilometres of remote travel.
Production time is between 4 and 5 weeks.
This system, like all our modules, is designed and manufactured in Italy.
